Good Hope Hospital in Birmingham was facing persistent issues with the main entrance doors to the Fothergill ward. This is a high-traffic area used daily by both staff and the public. With the existing system becoming unreliable and creating potential access and safety risks, the hospital needed a responsive contractor who could act quickly and deliver a long-term, compliant solution.
The hospital had previously experienced slow response times and ineffective fixes from other contractors. WDC quickly assessed the situation and identified that a full header replacement would provide the most reliable outcome.
Within 48 hours of the initial call, our team completed the installation of a new, fully compliant automatic door system. Given the critical function of this access point, particularly for a labour ward, we also scheduled two planned maintenance visits per year to ensure continued reliability and minimise future issues.
Since the new header was installed, the door system has remained fully operational with no downtime. The hospital now benefits from a reliable and compliant access solution that improves safety and convenience for staff and patients. With regular servicing in place, the site remains compliant with BS EN16005 standards and better protected against unplanned failures or costly repairs.
